Delta to expand service between LaGuardia and Virginia airports
- December 16, 2011
Delta Air Lines will new add new flights between Virginia airports and New York’s LaGuardia airport by this summer.
The new flights are among 100 being added as a result of an agreement between Delta and US Airways to exchange takeoff and landing rights at LaGuardia and Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.
The swap was approved earlier this year by the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the deal closed on Dec. 13.
While increasing the frequency of flights, the airline said it also is adding its LaGuardia service to 29 new destinations.
In Virginia, Delta will add 10 flights each to and from Norfolk International and Richmond International airports, with another eight flights to and from Washington Dulles International Airport and two flights to and from Roanoke Regional Airport. (In each case, half of the flights will originate at LaGuardia.).
Most of the new flights will be effective March 25, with others starting July 11.
