Defense Intelligence Agency signs on with Boston Properties for 523,482 square feet
- September 20, 2010
Boston Properties’ Patriots Park in Reston has landed a major 20-year lease with the U. S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). According to The Washington Business Journal, the federal agency plans to take 523,482 square feet, filling the two towers on Sunrise Valley Drive by 2013.
The lease was awarded by the U.S. General Services Administration, which handles most leasing for federal agencies. The space is currently the home of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, which will move out next year.
That will give Boston Properties about a year to renovate the property to meet government anti-terrorism/force protection standards. The DIA works with the Pentagon on intelligence regarding foreign threats.
Cassidy Turley represented Boston Properties, while CB Richard Ellis and GSA contracting officers represented the government. Patriots Park, completed in 1987, is close to Reston Town Center, a major retail area with shops, hotels and restaurants.
