Dates set for auction of 70-year-old rug cleaning company

Dates have been set for this month’s bankruptcy court-ordered auction of 70-year-old Mercer Rug Cleansing in Richmond..
The auction firm Tranzon Fox is marketing the business, based in Richmond’s Scott’s Addition area, as a going-concern. During the past three years, the company has had gross annual revenues of $800,000 to $900,000. Mercer employs 15 people.
Tranzon said prospective purchasers can submit sealed bids by Dec, 15 on the business in its entirety or on any of four offerings that include its location at West Moore Street in Richmond, its intangible business assets, and its furniture, fixtures and equipment .
A public auction involving only Mercer’s three commercial buildingswill be held Dec. 19 at the Richmond offices of the law firm Hirschler Fleischer.
