Falls Church IT contractor CSC has received a contract worth up to $317 million to design a computing system for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s environmental modeling program.
The system will improve the accuracy of NOAA’s climate models and weather forecasting.
The contract has a four-year base period with one a four-year option and one one-year transition option. The first year will be funded with $49.3 million under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
“We are proud to work with NOAA in helping the nation better understand how the Earth’s climate is changing, which will aid in the development of adaptation and mitigation strategies,” Mike Gaffney, president of the Civil and Health Services Group, said in a statement.
