The U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Committee passed a $33.3 billion energy and water bill that did include any money for the Virginia Port Authority’s marine terminal at Craney Island, according to The Virginian-Pilot.

The panel decided not to include money for any new projects this year. Congress had authorized $356.1 million in federal funds for the project last year. But Congress must still appropriate those funds.

The Senate appropriations committee is scheduled to meet next week, and there is a chance the project could be included in that version.

Craney Island would serve as the port’s fourth marine terminal. The $2.2 billion project would double the state-owned port’s capacity.
