Community college enrollment rises 5 percent

Enrollment in the Virginia Community College System rose 5 percent this fall from 2009 and is up more than 30 percent in the past four years.
Nineteen of the state’s 23 community colleges saw full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollment grow from 2009 to 2010. The biggest jumps were recorded at John Tyler Community College in Chesterfield County, up nearly 12 percent, followed by Paul D. Camp Community College in Franklin at 10.4 percent.
Overall, system enrollment is up 31.3 percent, by nearly 27,000 students, since 2006.
