- November 7, 2008
Circuit City Stores has begun laying off employees at its Henrico County headquarters, sources with knowledge of the situation said this morning.
The local layoffs began yesterday with several upper management firings. Earlier this week, the electronic products chain announced it would close 155 stores and lay off more than 7,000 employees.
According to a Circuit City employee who lost her job, between 500 and 800 people will be let go locally. The remaining employees, about 1,000, will be consolidated in one building.
“Out of respect for our associates, we’re not going to comment,” a Circuit City spokesman said this morning.
