Chandler leaving LandAmerica
- January 9, 2009
LandAmerica Chairman and CEO Theodore Chandler will step down from his roles at the Henrico County title insurer on Jan. 15, just a few weeks after the company sold most of its business units.
The sale to Fidelity National Financial Inc. represented about 85 percent of the companies’ revenues. LandAmerica continues to try to sell its remaining businesses.
A company statement said Chandler will leave on good terms, but that the company “in its dramatically scaled-down form, no longer offers Mr. Chandler the same executive responsibilities and challenges previously available to him.”
Chandler will remain active in Richmond and pursue other business and personal endeavors, according to the release.
Jonathan Mitchell, the company’s chief restructuring officer, will lead the company when Chandler steps down. LandAmerica also reduced the size of its board of directors from 13 to five.
