Capital One to open data center in Chesterfield
- June 27, 2012
Capital One Financial Corp. will spend more than $150 million to establish a data center in Chesterfield County, creating at least 50 jobs.
The new facility is part of the banking and credit card company’s incorporation of new technologies. Capital One recently purchased online bank ING Direct. Capital One, which is headquartered in McLean, has more than 14,000 associates in Virginia. Virginia competed against Texas for the project.
“In today’s environment, information technology is a competitive advantage,” Rob Alexander, chief information officer of Capital One, said in a statement. “With the new Chesterfield data center as a key element of the company’s simplified and automated infrastructure, we are proud to continue our strong relationship with Virginia and expand our work force here.”
Gov. Bob McDonnell approved a $500,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to help with the project.
