Bank of America cuts jobs in Richmond

Bank of America is laying off 135 employees in the Richmond area effective Aug. 31.
“Bank of America has made some changes in the Richmond market impacting approximately 135 associates – approximately 5 percent of the total amount of Richmond Bank of America employees,” bank spokeswoman Nicole Nastacie said in a statement.
The Charlotte, N.C.-based company employs 2,900 employees in the Richmond area in consumer, commercial and business banking, home loans, technology and consumer call centers, as well as at Merrill Lynch.
“There are almost 60 Bank of America positions open in Richmond,” Nastacie said.
Bank of America officials also recently announced 50 new technology jobs in Richmond.
