Babcock & Wilcox names a COO
- January 6, 2010
Babcock & Wilcox Co. has named Mary Pat Salomone as its chief operating officer. Salomone will direct day-to-day operations at the Lynchburg-based energy technology company and its five business units. She reports to Brandon C. Bethards, B&W’s president and CEO.
B&W’s parent company, McDermott International Inc., recently spun off B&W as an independent, publicly traded company. “As we move forward in positioning B&W to be a standalone company, this new COO position will play an integral role in the overall success of this important transition,” said Bethards. B&W plans to move its headquarters to Charlotte, but it will maintain a significant presence in Lynchburg.
Salamone has a long track record with B&W. She served as president and CEO of B&W Nuclear Operations Group in Euclid, Ohio (formerly known as Marine Mechanical Corp. prior to its acquisition by McDermott) from 2001 through 2007 where she was responsible for overall strategic direction, operations and financial results. Before that she held numerous roles in other B&W operating units.
B&W is a leader in energy technology innovation and service, primarily in nuclear and fossil power. It has locations worldwide and employs more than 20,000 people.
