Access National made most SBA loans in Washington region

Access National Bank of Reston made more U.S. Small Business Administration-backed loans to small businesses in the Washington, D.C., region in the past 12 months than any other bank, according to the SBA.
The SBA said that ANB was the No. 1 small business lender based on dollar volume in the fiscal year ended Sept. 30. In the previous year, ANB was the No. 1 SBA lender amoug community banks in the Washington region.
ANB increased its origination of SBA-backed loans by 65 percent to $12 million in 2010, compared with $7 million in 2009.
“We are proud of our SBA team members, who have lent more capital to local small businesses than our larger competitors, even in a down economy,” Michael Clarke, president and CEO of ANB said in a statement. “Our team is not sitting on the sidelines, but working overtime to make loans that will fuel growth and hiring in our communities.”
