39 manufacturing jobs for Greensville
- January 14, 2010
Wood Fuel Developers LLC plans to invest $18.7 million to start wood pellet manufacturing operations in Greensville County, creating 39 jobs.
Wood Fuel is a renewable energy company from Chester-based Industrial TurnAround Corp. that focuses on development wood fuel and pellet production plants to power generation for residential and industrial markets.
“Wood Fuel Developers LLC chose Greensville County based on the opportunity to repurpose a large existing fiber basket from pulp production to green energy production,” Steven Gordon, Wood Fuel’s president said in a statement. “The transportation infrastructure and port facilities in Virginia in combination with the available fiber supply make it a sound location for launching a new wood pellet plant.”
Gov. Timothy M. Kaine approved using $175,000 from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to help Greensville with the project. The Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission also approved $175,000.
