23rd annual film festival exceeds previous records

The Virginia Film Festival enjoyed its best year ever last weekend in Charlottesville. According to the Virginia Film Office, the annual event attracted more than 23,750 people to film screenings and events and earned more than $90,158 in ticket sales.
These figures represent a 25 percent increase over last year and topped the previous sales figure record of $72,138 set in 2006, a year that included many major stars including Robert Duvall and Morgan Freeman. The Charlottesville festival is presented by the University of Virginia’s College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
