Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System unveiled
plans to cut 100 positions, about 70 of which are already
vacant. As many as 30 workers will lose their jobs
but the company is trying to place them elsewhere within
the organization. Declining reimbursement, caring for
people without health insurance, and shifting of inpatient
care to outpatient services were among the reasons
for the cuts. (Daily Press)

XO Holdings Inc., a
Reston communications company, and Elk Associates
LLC agreed to terminate a previous
agreement for Elk to purchase XO's national wireline
telecommunications business. Elk believed pending litigation
opposing the sale would cause the closing to miss a
July 3 goal, and the companies agreed to cancel the
deal. (PRNewswire)
