and Technology promotes the advancement of engineering
knowledge by providing a supportive learning environment
to students, faculty, industry, government and
military agencies. Students are encouraged to
learn hands-on engineering applications by working
at one of our many research centers such as the
Langley Full-Scale Wind Tunnel or the Virginia
Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center.
Students
receive traditional laboratory and classroom instruction
and partake in industry projects for concerns
like NASA, Northrop Grumman Newport News, W.R.
Systems, Clark-Nexsen, and the U.S. Joint Forces
Command. The college is comprised of the departments
of Aerospace; Civil and Environmental; Electrical
and Computer; Engineering Management and Systems;
Mechanical; and Engineering Technology.
The
Old Dominion University College of Sciences' degree
programs are designed to prepare students for
careers in the sciences or to lay broad foundations
for specialized training in these fields of knowledge.
The
college is comprised of the departments of Biological
Sciences; Chemistry and Biochemistry; Mathematics
and Statistics; Ocean, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences;
