A Canadian silicone and organic rubber manufacturer will close its Buchanan plant, laying off 70 workers.
MTI Groendyk, a subsidiary of MTI Global in Canada, said it will start phasing the plant out in about two months, according to The Roanoke Times.
The company said it will work with the local United Steelworkers union to create potential severance packages.
