The Washington Post reported Monday that Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is eyeing a site near National Harbor in Prince George’s County. If the giant retailer follows through, a store of more than 100,000 square feet could go up on vacant land owned by The Peterson Cos., the developer of the mixed-use Harbor project, on the banks of the Potomac just over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge from Northern Virginia. The store would be next to the Clarion Hotel on Oxen Hill Road. Wal-Mart has been expanding in the metro Washington, D.C., area and has several sites under consideration.
