Virginia Beach to require vendors to verify employees’ status

Virginia Beach officials will now require city vendors to pledge that they are following federal immigration laws.
The city council added the clause to city contracts The city also plans to audit any company it suspects is not following proper immigration laws.
The city has been under pressure to pass tough immigration enforcement since two teenagers were killed last year when a drunk driver, who was an illegal immigrant, struck their car.
