The owners of Mango Salon in Richmond have won the Retail Merchants Association’s 2012 Distinguished Retailer of the Year Award.

Pat and Bobbi Heaney opened the hair salon in 2003 and have experienced rapid growth in its revenue. The business has locations on Libbie Avenue in Richmond and on West Broad Street in the Short Pump area of Henrico County.

Mango Salon has been listed among Salon Today magazine’s “Top 200” seven consecutive times and it received the 2012 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Excellence in the Workplace Effectiveness and Flexibility.

The other two finalists for the award were Paul Carr, CEO of Car Pool Car Washes, and Richard Fowlkes, owner of Peter-Blair Inc. The three finalists were selected from a pool of 10 nominees.

The 2012 Distinguished Retailer of the Year Award winner has been given by the Richmond-based Retail Merchants Association since 1966.
