The Regal Entertainment Group plans to open a 14-screen theatre at The Promenade at Virginia Gateway. The 300,000-square-foot retail, dining and entertainment center is a Peterson Cos. development under construction in Gainesville. The 57,000-square-foot theater will include 14 screens with 2,950 seats and other amenities. Regal, based out of Knoxville, is one of the country’s largest theatre operators, with 532 theatres in 37 states and the District of Columbia. According to the Peterson Cos., construction should begin in Gainesville this fall with a projected opening in spring 2013. Located at the Interstate 66/Route 29 interchange, Virginia Gateway has more than 1 million square feet of retail, restaurants, office and office space, and a hotel.
