Waynesboro-based NTELOS Holdings Corp. reported Wednesday that its second-quarter operating revenues rose 6.9 percent.

The regional wireless phone provider said that its income from continuing operations was $5.6 million, or 26 cents a share, for the quarter ending June 30, down from $5.9 million, or 28 cents a share, in the same period last year.
NTELOS spun off its wireline telephone operations last year as a separately traded company now called Lumos Networks Corp., also based in Waynesboro.

Operating revenues for the second quarter totaled $111.6 million, up from $104.3 million during the same time last year.

Wholesale and other revenue for the second quarter rose 21.7 percent to $41.9 million, compared with $34.5 million during second quarter 2011.
