Dennis Ryan, a co-founder of the law firm LeClairRyan, has been named executive vice president of Health Diagnostic Laboratory Inc., a rapidly growing, Richmond-based health management services company.
Ryan, who is vice chairman of the law firm, will resign from Richmond-based LeClairRyan at the end of March and retire from the practice of law. He will become a full-time executive with HDL in April.
Ryan provided legal advice on the establishment of HDL and has since served as the company’s outside counsel.
“A large part of my corporate law practice has always been in the health-care industry,” Ryan said in a statement. “Health Diagnostic Laboratory is a dynamic company that is making a difference in disease management, and I am excited to have this opportunity to join its mission.”
Ryan started LeClairRyan with the Gary LeClair, the firm’s chairman, in 1988. The law firm has become one of the largest based in Virginia, It employs more than 350 lawyers in 21 offices throughout the country. It has more than 160 lawyers in Virginia.
HDL, opened in 2009, now has nearly 500 employees. It provides testing for physicians and medical practices in 45 states.
