Laminating company opening operations in Martinsville
February 20, 2012 11:45 AM

A manufacturer of laminated panels and fabricated components plans to open an operation in Henry County, creating at least 30 jobs.

Laminate Technologies, which is based in Tiffin, Ohio, and has manufacturing facilities in Texas and Tennessee, is a supplier to many area kitchen cabinet manufacturers in the Martinsville-Henry County region. Virginia competed against North Carolina for the project.

“After a careful evaluation of various sites in North Carolina and Virginia, and numerous visits to both regions, it became clear that Virginia was the clear choice,” Fred Zoeller, president & CEO of Laminate Technologies, said in a statement. “The people in the [Virginia Economic Development Partnership] and the overall attitude from those whom we visited within the state department were all great and very helpful.  The overall support that we received from the people of Martinsville – Henry County, along with their continued cooperation in helping us locate an essential rail siding, is fantastic.”

Laminate Technologies is one of the largest, privately held customer laminators/fabricators in the U.S.

Gov. Bob McDonnell approved a $50,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to assist Henry County with the project, and the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission approved $110,000 for the project.
