Richmond-based Tabb, Brockenbrough & Ragland, a 129-year-old, independent insurance agency, has been acquired by Dawson Mid-Atlantic LLC.
D. Michael Sherman, chairman and CEO of the Cleveland-based Dawson Cos., said the Richmond agency, known as TB&R, will become the hub for Dawson’s expansion in the mid-Atlantic region.
R.C. Moore III, who headed TB&R, will serve as president of the TB&R division of Dawson Mid-Atlantic.
Moore said the ownership change preserves the culture of TB&R and prepares it for growth within a larger organization.
The Dawson Cos, founded in 1931, is a full-service, independent agency system employing more than 200 insurance and benefit professionals in offices in Ohio, Florida, and Virginia.
