Jay Joseph, a senior vice president for Harvey Lindsay Commercial Real Estate in Newport News, brokered several recent sales for local nonprofits. The American Red Cross sold its former headquarters building for the Hampton Roads chapter at 4915 W. Mercury Blvd. in Hampton to The Churches of Christ in Christian Union for $600,000. Joseph had previously assisted the Red Cross in the purchase of its new property at 1323 Pembroke Ave. in Hampton.

The Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula sold a warehouse and office building at 9910-9916 Hosier St. in Newport News for $210,000. Bob Saunders of Harvey Lindsay represented the buyer, Event Central LLC.

The Congregation of B’nai Israel Synagogue sold its building at 3116 Kecoughtan Road in Hampton for $640,000. The buyer, Gates of Praise Way of the Cross Church of Christ Inc., plans extensive renovations to the property.

According to Harvey Lindsay, each of these nonprofit organizations had evolved to the point where their existing facilities no longer met their respective needs.
