Hackers hit Advance Auto
April 01, 2008 7:45 AMFinancial information of 56,000 customers in Advance Auto stores has been compromised.
The Roanoke-based company discovered that security data for stores in eight states was breached, according to The Roanoke Times. The compromised data is from purchases made between 2001 and 2004.
A Richmond store was the only one affected in Virginia.
The company is sending letters to all affected customers and offering them a free one-year credit monitoring program.
A criminal investigation is ongoing.
