Four Virginia localities have been designated Virginia Enterprise Zones, designed to bring jobs and investment to disadvantaged areas around the state.
Galax and Waynesboro cities and Halifax and Wise counties will receive state and local incentives to create jobs and increase private investment.
The program provides grants for businesses based on property investment and job creation.
“The Virginia Enterprise Zone program, through both the real property investment and job creation incentives, has been an effective economic development instrument in bringing business and investment to disadvantaged areas of the Commonwealth,” Secretary of Commerce and Trade Patrick O. Gottschalk said in a statement.
With the additional four counties there will be 56 enterprise zones in Virginia.
