East Beach Marina Apartments decision overturned
May 30, 2012 2:21 PM

The Virginia Marine Resources Commission overturned a Norfolk Wetlands Board decision to deny developers a permit for the construction of the East Beach Marina Apartments.

The Virginian-Pilot reports that the complex will feature 136 apartments, which will be available in late 2013.

East Beach residents voiced concerns about the apartments’ effect on population density and traffic, but the commissioners’ decision was based on the board’s approval of a similar complex in 2007.

Developers are set to create 2,450 square feet of wetlands to alleviate the 3,720-square foot loss of wetlands the new apartment project will cause.
