Dollar Tree continues positive sales trend

Consumers continue to look for deals in a weak economy.

Dollar Tree Inc. reported Thursday that sales rose 11.9 percent in its third quarter to $1.6 billion.

The Chesapeake-based retailer, which sells all its goods for $1 or less, increased its profit 12. 1 percent to $104.5 million, or 87 cents per diluted share, compared with $93.2 million, or 73 cents per diluted share, during the third quarter of 2010.
