Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer has adopted quick response (QR) codes as a new way to market space at retail centers.  The two-dimensional barcode can be read by most smart phones utilizing a barcode reader application.  Officials with Thalhimer, based in Richmond, said Monday that the company is initially rolling out QR codes at retail centers because of the frequent foot traffic associated with these locations.

After scanning a QR code, customers can view property details, asking rents, maps, floor plans, and obtain contact information for leasing agents. The code gives customers the benefit of instant access to real estate information while on a property.

Thalhimer’s Research and Marketing Group also is including QR codes on property flyers and marketing materials displayed at industry trade shows.  Brad McGetrick, the company’s director of brokerage services, said Thalhimer “embraces technology across our business processes.  Using the QR codes to provide detailed property information is an innovative use of technology in the commercial real estate industry.”
