Construction begins on Dulles World Center in Loudoun County
August 11, 2011 5:39 PM

Five months after getting approval from the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, construction is underway on a new road interchange to support Dulles World Center, a mixed-use project in Sterling.  The developer, Dulles World Center LLC, is providing the funding for the new interchange at Route 28 and Innovation Avenue.  It’s expected to be done by late 2012. After that, work can begin on what would be a major new development.  The developers have plans for 4.1 million square feet of office in 11 buildings, 400,000 square feet of retail, 1,300 residential units and a 350-room hotel. The 82-acre center, located off the Dulles Greenway, would be close to a new Metrorail station serving the Dulles area. Shirley Contracting is the general contractor for the road improvements.
