Comstock Partners has selected Jones Lang LaSalle as the exclusive office leasing agent for Reston Station, a project under development above and around the Reston Station Metro Facility. Reston Station will include more than 1.3 million square feet of mixed-use development. Of that, 500,000 square feet is being designed for Class A office space and about 120,000 square feet will be used for restaurants, shops and retail. Also in the plans are a 200-plus room hotel and 850 apartments.
Construction began on the project located on the Dulles Toll Road at the Wiehle Avenue exit in April 2011. Phase one calls for 450 of the apartments to be ready by 2014.
The Reston Station Metro is being built substantially underground through a public-private partnership between Reston-based Comstock Partners and Fairfax County. It will include a commuter park and ride facility, a transit bus depot, 2,300 commuter parking spaces and parking spaces for the retail establishments being constructed above the station.
Above ground, Reston Station will be adjacent to the Silver Line Metro Station. Work on phase one of the Silver Line Metro expansion to Dulles International Airport is underway with completion expected in 2013. Phase I expands the Silver Line through Tyson’s Corner, terminating at Reston Station. Phase II extends the Silver Line from Reston Station to Dulles International Airport and into Loudoun County, where Comstock has a similar transit project underway.
Some Reston residents have objected to the redevelopment along Metro’s new Silver Line, because they say the project will increase the area’s traffic problems.
