March 17, 2013 4:50 PM

Big Lots is coming as the anchor tenant in a new 38,000-square-foot shopping center in Chesterfield County.

Vania Farnsworth, marketing director for Glen Allen-based Taylor Long Properties, said that UHF Development Corp, a developer based out of New Bern, N.C., plans to begin construction on its first Richmond area project soon, now that Big Lots has signed on as the anchor tenant.

At 30,000 square feet, Big Lots will take up most of the space at what will be known as the Big Lots Center at 2660 Weir Place. The site, near the intersection of Jefferson Davis Highway and West Hundred Road, is located in an enterprise zone and is close to John Tyler Community College.

The remaining 8,000 square feet will be available to other retail tenants.  Big Lots hopes to open by September.
