American Systems to acquire a business unit from SAIC
September 06, 2012 5:20 PM

American Systems, a government IT services provider in Chantilly, said Thursday that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the Test & Evaluation (T&E) business unit from Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC). The transaction, whose terms were not disclosed, is expected to close by mid-October.

The company said the acquisition will complement its current test and evaluation capabilities and enable American Systems to perform a wider range of services including scientific, engineering, logistic, administrative, and ancillary support of its customers’ T&E missions.

“American Systems identified the test and evaluation market as a key element of our strategic plan several years ago …” Bill Hoover, the president and CEO, said in a statement. “It’s a great fit with our culture and our current capabilities, and I’m confident this will be a successful acquisition.”

Under the terms of the agreement, approximately 300 SAIC personnel will join American Systems’ Human Capital & Managed Services group, led by Jason Frye.
