Accenture has opened its new metro Washington, D.C., office at 800 N. Glebe Road in Arlington. Local, state and federal officials turned out for a ribbon cutting last week and a tour of what is the company’s largest “office of the future” implementation in the U.S.
Since employees primarily work remotely at client sites, Accenture wanted an office that embraced the changing demographics and the workplace preferences of today’s workers. For instance, the new office has done away with traditional cubicles, offering instead spaces for team-based collaboration and interoffice networking. It also provides walk stations, where employees can exercise on a treadmill while participating in conference calls. Flexible spaces such as the café double as a working space when employees are not dining there. Renewable materials including flooring made out of cork and recycled glass countertops.
The company occupies three floors of the building on North Glebe, which has about 100,000 square feet. Accenture is a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company that has more than 246,000 employers serving clients in more than 120 countries. It generated revenues of $25.5 billion during its most recent fiscal year.
