World Access President & CEO Jon Ansell brought in Thomas Jefferson (Beau Marie) to celebrate the company’s acquisition of Jefferson Insurance Company.

Their World is Expanding
World Access used to be one of Richmond’s best-kept secrets. But with its runaway growth and recent acquisition of Jefferson Insurance Company from sister company Allianz Global Risks US, this specialty insurance and travel assistance company is proving itself to be an even bigger player on the international stage.
Last year alone, the company provided assistance to over 25 million customers – more than three times the population of Virginia – with everything from lost baggage protection to medical evacuations at sea and nearly everything in between. With the Jefferson acquisition, those services are only expected to grow.
“With the purchase of Jefferson,” says Jon Ansell, World Access President and CEO, “World Access has the ability to directly underwrite the insurance products
we have been selling and servicing on behalf of others for 25 years. This fully integrated capability will provide many of our customers with tangible benefits, including greater flexibility in product design and increased financial strength.” Ansell, now also the President of Jefferson, further states that the acquisition gives World Access greater opportunities to enhance its own profitability and new
market growth.
Jefferson, which began offering specialty insurance policies in 30 states and the
District of Columbia in late 2007 (with the remaining 20 states coming onboard soon), was recently rated “A” (Excellent) by AM Best, the insurance company rating service.
“The addition of Jefferson,” adds Ansell, “also means that World Access will be adding several new jobs in its finance, legal, and insurance departments to
support the new business.”
