The board of directors of student loan company Sallie Mae has appointed John F. Remondi to the newly created position of president and chief operating officer.
Remondi will be responsible for the company’s loan servicing, information technology, credit and underwriting and marketing and communications divisions.
A new CFO has not yet been announced.
Remondi has been vice chairman and CFO of Sallie Mae since 2008.
Sallie Mae also appointed Laurent C. Lutz as executive vice president and general counsel. Lutz was previously chief legal officer and secretary of BearingPoint Inc.
