Bill Dennison announced his retirement as city manager of Bristol, effective Jan. 1, 2010. He has worked for the city for 36 years, including positions as assistant city manager and public works director. He was named interim city manager in January 2007. (Bristol Herald Courier)

Alan Grant, named dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Virginia Tech. Grant was a professor and head of the Department of Animal Sciences at Purdue University. (News release)
