James B. “J.B.” Jones, named recipient of the William H. Ruffner Medal, the highest honor bestowed by Virginia Tech. A 1944 Tech graduate, Jones taught at Purdue University before returning to Tech in 1964. He led the Department of Mechanical Engineering for 19 years. (News release)

Peizhen Kathy Lu, named recipient of the Karl Schwartzwalder Professional Achievement in Ceramic Engineering Award from the American Ceramic Society Board of Directors.
