Carlos Campo became the eighth president of Regent University on Monday.
Campo, who came to Regent as vice president of academic affairs in 2008, follows Pat Robertson, the chancellor and founderof the university. Campo is the first Hispanic president of a private Christian college or university in Virginia.
“He is a deeply intelligent and thoughtful man who couples scholarship with dynamic leadership, and is completely committed to the mission of Regent, which is training Christian leaders to change the world,” Robertson said in a statement.
Campo serves on the boards of National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference and the Virginia Latino Higher Education Network and is a member of the National Council of Workforce Education, the National Council on Foreign Relations, the Council on Race and Ethnic Equality, the American Center for Law and Justice, the American Literature Association, the International Shakespeare Association and the Arthur Miller Society.
Remember when Pat Robertson ran for president and lied about his war record? I hope Mr. Campos has more integrity than that. Also, when Pat says the mission of Regent is to train Christian leaders to change the world, does that mean to change the U.S. into a Christian theocracy?
