Eastern Shore is special place
To the Editor,
You have to visit the Eastern Shore to appreciate all the fine qualities that include historical towns, quaint shopping, beaches and waterway, and all the great restaurants [“A shore thing,” May issue].
If you’re bringing family try Chincoteague for it small island style and Assateague beach. It’s an experience no matter what age you are.
I was born and raised on the Shore and wouldn’t trade it for all the money in the world.

Manufacturing loss hurts U.S.
To the Editor,
It breaks my heart that this manufacturing business has had to make such a decision [“Stanley Furniture to cut 530 jobs in Henry,” May 13, ]http://www.VirginiaBusiness.com.]
Our country needs to increase manufacturing in America and stop our dependency on other countries. We pay China for the manufacturing we have given up to them, and they turn around and buy our Treasurys?
I don’t have a clue how this would work. Find a product that is low cost to manufacture and pray to God that Americans care enough to buy that American-made product? Far reaching, I know, but I’m not at all comfortable with our position as it relates to this subject.
