The Washington Business Journal reports that construction has begun on a 345,000-square-foot speculative office building at Constitution Square in Washington, D.C. The first phase of the 1.6 billion, square-foot, mixed-use project is located in NoMa (the area north of Massachusetts Ave.)  The building, under development by Bethesda, Md.-based StonebridgeCarras and its partner, Walton Street Capital LLC, is the third to go up at Constitution Square. So far, there’s a Harris Teeter grocery store and retail and residential development. The Journal story said no tenants have been signed, although the developer expects interest from private tenants and federal agencies.
