Wood Partners LLC, a Houston-based multifamily developer, said Wednesday that it has begun construction on Streets of Greenbrier, a $39 million apartment community adjacent to Chesapeake Mall.
Streets of Greenbrier, at 929 Wintercress Way, will include 280 units with one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans, lofts and several carriage units. The community will be open for lease in January 2013, with construction completed in August 2013.
“Chesapeake is one of the stronger, more stable areas in the Tidewater market. It has an excellent economic base and job outlook and a low vacancy rate,” Carter Siegel, Wood Partners director, said in a statement.
The project will sit on about 13.8 acres. In addition to three- and four-story structures, Streets of Greenbrier will offer seven carriage units, each with two units built over garages. “The carriage units have been extremely popular in every development we’ve utilized them,” Siegel said. “They provide all the benefits of a first-class amenities package with much more privacy, including a private entrance. They are especially popular with people making the transition from a house to an apartment.”
Floor plans will range from 737 to 1,290 square feet. Amenities include a swimming pool, courtyards with grilling areas, dog park, play area and a car care center for washing and vacuuming vehicles. A 5,500-square-foot clubhouse will house a cyber café, 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness center and Wii gaming area.
KBS, Inc. is the general contractor and Cline Design Associates is the architect.
