West Virginia bank acquires Virginia Savings Bancorp

Charleston, W.Va.-based City Holding Co. has completed its $13.4 million acquisition of Virginia Savings Bancorp., increasing the City’s assets to $2.9 billion and its banking offices to 73.

Front Royal-based Virginia Savings Bancorp, the parent company of Virginia Savings Bank, had $133 million in assets and $120 million in deposits on April 30.

City previously operated only in West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio.

As a result of the acquisition, it now has locations in Front Royal, Winchester, Strasburg, Woodstock and Stephens City.

The deal was announced in November.
