VMFA names new leadership
December 06, 2010 4:19 PM

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) has named new leadership.

Thurston Moore has been named the 2010-2011 Board of Trustees president, and Dr. Monroe E. Harris Jr. has been named the 2010-2011 president of the Foundation Board of Directors.

Moore, of Richmond, is currently the chairman of Hunton & Williams executive committee, where he focuses on corporate and securities representation. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar, and a trustee for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the Virginia Foundation of Independent Colleges and the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business Foundation.

Harris is currently in private practice with the oral and maxillofacial surgeons group in Richmond. He has been a board member since 2007.

Trustees are appointed by the governor and provide for management, control, maintenance, and operation of the museum. They may serve on or two five-year terms on the governing board. Foundation directors are elected by the foundation board and may serve two three-year terms.
