The Virginia Economic Development Partnership Board of Directors has named Martin J. Briley president and CEO of the commonwealth’s marketing authority.

Briley has been the executive director of the Prince William County Department of Economic Development since 1997.

“Martin Briley brings a wealth of experience in both economic development and national and global business,” VEDP Board Chairman Julien G. Patterson said in a statement. “He has achieved great success during his tenure with Prince William County, and I have utmost confidence that Martin will continue VEDP’s strong legacy of success, and take the partnership to new heights.”

Briley has 25 years experience in national and international business development. During his tenure in Prince William, annual average investment rose from $20 million to $250 million.

Briley succeeds Jeffrey M. Anderson, who was president and CEO for six years. VEDP conducted a six-month, national search to replace him.
