VDEQ approves Craney Island expansion permit
March 11, 2010 3:17 PMThe Virginia Department of Environmental Quality approved a permit to allow the Virginia Port Authority and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to expand Craney Island.
The Virginia Water Protection permit will allow construction of the expansion and mitigation plan.
The Virginia Port Authority is planning to build a fourth marine terminal in Portsmouth to allow it to handle increased shipments expected after the Panama Canal expansion is completed in 2014
