October 12, 2011 12:53 PM

Virginia Commonwealth University unveiled its six solar installations in a ribbon cutting ceremony today. Johnson Controls, a renewable solar project, supported the installation and will manage the systems.
During the summer months, the solar arrays will potentially provide as much as 30 percent of the school’s electricity, according to a press release. Along with the solar installations, three communication kiosks have been added in high-traffic areas of the campus. The displays will highlight long-term benefits of renewable technology through live data feeds that track and display energy usage, among other features.
