Virginia Commonwealth University Health System has agreed to a 42,373-square-foot lease for office space at The Shops at Willow Lawn in Henrico County. Several business functions will move into the space, including the Medical College of Virginia Hospital (MCVH) Office of Patient Accounting, physician billing and financial support services. The move will consolidate several related departments of about 260 employees into the West Tower Office Building. The MCVH accounting office is moving from the Biotech 3 building in the Virginia Biotechnology Research Park in downtown Richmond, and the MCVP physician billing office is moving from its current location on Rhoadmiller Street in the city.

Deirdre Johnson, director of asset management for Federal Realty Investment Trust, said in a statement, “We are very proud that VCU selected the West Tower as the site to consolidate their financial and accounting services division for MCVH.”  She added that the shopping, dining and fitness components at Willow Lawn, along with outdoor dining and a children’s play area will give VCU’s employees “an amenity-rich environment just steps from their office.”

Located at the intersection of Broad Street and Staples Mill Road, The Shops at Willow Lawn has more than 60 shops and restaurants across 438,000 square feet of retail and office space. Federal Realty, based out of Rockville, Md.,owns and manages the property.
